How do I install Outlook in my taskbar at startup

When I first intalled Outlook 2003 it placed an Outlook icon on my taskbar at
startup. I had to reinstall my Office 2003 programs after installing a new
XP operating system and now there is no Outlook in my taskbar on startup. Is
there a way that I can configure this myself post installation?

Is Outlook minimizing to the system tray or is it just not starting with
Windows at all?

When I open Outlook it places an icon in my system tray and then it goes away
when I close the program. I used to have a small icon on my system tray at
all times before. That was convenient when I wanted to open Outlook when I
had another application open. Now I have to minimize the application I'm
working on and open Outlook from my Start of from the icon on my desktop. I
noticed there is someone complaining that their icon is always in the system
tray. I wish mine was! Any help you can provide would be greatly
appreciated.

The icon is supposed to disappear if you actually CLOSE outlook, as in click
the X on the title bar of the application or click File | Exit. If that
wasn't happening to you before, you must have had some kind of add-in
installed that was keeping Outlook running when you thought you'd closed it.
There would have been at least one instance of OUTLOOK.EXE on the Processes
tab in Windows Task Manager.

Now, what SHOULD happen in Outlook 2003 is that if you right-click the
Outlook icon in the system tray and check "Hide when minimized", Outlook will
minimize to the system tray if you click the minimize button, so it won't
show on the taskbar...but if you close out of Outlook, the icon disappears
and you will have to restart it from the Start menu or wherever you start it
from.

If you want Outlook to start when Windows starts, add a shortcut to
Outlook to the "Startup" folder in "Start|All Programs" popup.

If you want it to start minimized (on the Taskbar), do this:
1) Right-click on the short-cut you put in the "Startup" folder
2) Choose "Properties"
3) When its Properties dialog comes up, click on the "Shortcut" tab
4) Next to "Run" in the second set of options, make sure "Minimized"
is selected from the pull-down list.
5) "Ok" out of the dialog.

Thank you Donald and Jocelyn. It works now just fine. It is great to be
able to get such terrific support from other Office users! Thank you again!

I have been working for hours today trying to get Outlook to open minimized.
Thanks you so much for this post. It has been most helpful.
