I am working in PowerPoint and wish for my photos to automatically have a
reflection underneath. I am using a PC not apple. I have seen the effect but
do not know how to do this. Can you please assist?

Which version of PowerPoint do you use? The reflection effect is only
available in PowerPoint 2007. There you could build a custom layout with an
image placeholder and format this with the reflection effect. Then use this
layout to insert your photos.

Best regards,
Ute

If you are not using Version 2007, then you need the assist of a good image
editor, like Adobe Photoshop, Corel PhotoPaint, or Corel Paint Shop Pro. You
would create the reflection there and then save the image as a PNG file
using your program's option to include the transparency created by the
"mask" or the "selection" (technically speaking, the alpha channel).

Marty,

I'v been able to recreate this effect using PPT 2003. If that's the program
you are using and want to see the example, let me know at sjohnson (at sign)
presentationwiz (dot) biz.

Following my query. I received this reply which may be helpful to others.

Whilst the other gurus kindly responded but were unable to assist, Sandy at
www.presentationwiz.biz ingeniously was able to achieve the result in
Powerpoint 2003 and I am posting it here for others who may like to know.

"To create the reflection I drew an auto shape that was the same size as the
photo. Then I right clicked on the autoshape and selected Format Auto shape.
Under the picture tab I browsed to find the photo and inserted into the
image. Before exiting Format Auto Shape, adjust the transparency of the image
as desired. Once inserted, I reversed the auto shape to be "upside down."
Then I drew another autoshape exactly like the previous. This time I used
Fill > Fill Effects, chose two shades of gray with varying trasparencies
(less transparent near the bottom) and place it over the newly insert
(transparent) photo. If you click on top of any of the reflections, you'll
find this box."

Thanks Marty. For those who have not seen the example, I would note that this
effect was created on a gray background (that would make the "two shades of
gray" comment make more sense).
