How do I initiate a BOOKMARK

I wish to know how to initiate and use the features of a BOOKMARK.

Try:
Select the text you want to bookmark,
Use Insert|Bookmark from the menu, and give the bookmark a name
Use Insert|Cross-reference from the menu to refer to the bookmark.

Reading Word's help wouldn't hurt, either.
