how do i import my organization's address list in to outlook in b.

hello everyone,
Does anyone know how to copy entire organization
address lists into outlook's contacts app. i have for several years now been
searching for a method to do this and so far have been unsuccessful.
 
Your question is a tad vague. Conventional process would be via Outlook's
Import process (or via a 3rd party product if you have special requirements)
which requires your address lists to be in a compatible format which you
didn't specifiy.

i appologize, i suppose i made the grave error of assuming... My
specs. are simple. What i am attemping to do is simply find a way in which i
can go to my organization's website or online database, copy it and paste it
into outlook en masse(all at once) and in outlook format preferrably without
needing a third party program. if a third party program is necessary it would
need to be inexpensive as this is only for my own personal use and i would
not wish to spend much $ on it.
i hope this gives you sufficient specs. to answer my question. thanks

In order to turn what would essentially be text data into Outlook contacts,
you'll need to place that data into a format Outlook can handle. For what
you deescribe, that would probably be a comma-separated values (CSV) file.
With the data organized in the CSV properly, Outlook should be able to
import it into a Contacts folder to make it available for use.

Am not really any further ahead in actually completely understanding what
you want to do so will stay generic. "Website or online database" doesn't
mean much (leastwise not to me) in concrete data terms.

#1 - If you can't export your data from this source then assume that you're
asking about a "cut 'n paste" approach to put the info directly into
Outlook. Answer - no approach that I'm aware of unless you can format the
info as outlined by Brian (depending on how this stuff is displayed on
screen - you may be able to skim this info using a screen cap program that
allows for scrolling regions and put the data into a text file - then ensure
it's formatted accordingly)

#2 - If you can get your data in an "importable format" - then the Outlook
Import wizard is part of Outlook - ergo free. If you want/need to import
custom field info - then your only options are to write your own code or use
a 3rd party product.

#3 - If your talking about addresses related to Outlook Web Access for an
Exchange based envirn- then Milly's suggestion may apply

Can you import this database with an office suite such as OpenOffice.org
(http://www.openoffice.org)? If you can, then you should be able to export it
as CSV from open office (to your hard disk, or to a floppy so you'll have a
backup). Then open up Outlook, click the "file" menu, hover over "import",
click "other address book" and click "text file (comma seperated values)".
Then just browse to the .csv file on your hard disk or floppy. Make sure the
disk is not write-protected, and don't use a CD-R to backup the contacts, or
they will be marked "read-only" and Outlook will refuse to import them!

** Note: I am using Outlook Express, so the menus may be slightly different.
