I am having the worst time tring to upload my Publisher Web. I have tried
importing to Frontpage and I am still having proplems. I NEED HELP!!!

Although you can probably do this...you may not want to in the long run. Publisher is for paper, FrontPage is for webs.
You will spend more time trying to produce and publish with Publisher than it would take you to just re-do the page in FrontPage.

IMO, consider your Publisher page(s) as a rough draft for your web.

You don't mention if you created a Web in FP first...then import the page from Publisher.

Not a good idea at all.... that's not what Publisher is for and it's tooooo
bad that it implies that you can make web pages with it. There should be a
warning on the box!! Use the right tool for the job ...

Microsoft disagrees. They say Publisher is great for making and publishing
web sites:

Actually, Publisher has a template selection, specifically for creating a web site.

I'm sure they do ... but they ought to know better. And why not try to sell
two different products, one for one task and one for the other.
Eleanor

But that doesn't mean that it really should be used. Novices get into lots
of trouble using the wrong tool for building web sites.

Please show me a truly good site that was made using Publisher ... one that
isn't a lot of images and has good, clean code!!

I didn't say *I* supported using Publisher for webs ;-)

I just prefer to ignore the Publisher posts. This is a FP newsgroup, and I
have knowledge about FP, not Publisher.

He does say this too:

"When making a decision to use Publisher for a web site please bear in mind that Publisher is not a web design tool nor an html editor. Publisher is a Desktop Publishing Tool (DTP) that supports web design. A lot of the same functionality can be found in Microsoft Word, which is also not a web design tool. Microsoft's web design tool is FrontPage. Publisher cannot be and never should be, compared to a web design tool.
When using a web design tool, such as FrontPage, you create and maintain the physical html files. They are individual entities and you can directly "handle" the html code. There is an important distinction here. With Publisher you do not create nor maintain physical html files. There is no html "handling". All creation, modification, and management is done in the publisher web publication file, the .pub file. It is Publisher that creates the physical html files, it writes all the code. The html site files are then a separate entity from the Publisher file. The entire site is fully self-contained in the Publisher file.
By design, by it's scope, Publisher does have it's limitations and weaknesses. It can however create a quality web site as can be seen in real world examples listed on this page..."

Which is a more realistic way of representing Pub as a web tool.

I have to agree with Eleanor. I use FP for my websites and Publisher for my
DTP stuff. Like the lady said - Use the right tool for the job. :-)

Publisher created bloated code - you can't just open it in FP. I'd suggest
getting comfy and start from scratch.

You do when you don't tell your wife what you're about to do before using
that tool. ;-)

Every time Keith gets out a sharp tool, I reach for bandages and get the car
started. Don't want to waste any time getting him to the emergency room for
stitches.
