How do I import a list of names so I can animate them?

Hi - I'm stuck and I went down this route last year and took two days and a
new set of cornea to do it. I need to produce a role of honour for our
students that achieved an award this year. There are a couple of thousand.
Instead of setting up a macro and copying and pasting each name and animating
it is there a way to import a list of names and animate them in one go?
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

What final result are you after? A different slide for each name, with the name
animated in some way?

If so, there are commercial addins that will do at least some of the heavy
lifting for you. We have one called PPTMerge ... there's a free demo at
http://pptmerge.pptools.com

If something else, fill in the details and we'll have a go at it.
Two corneal transplants in as many years is two too many to bear.
 
Hi Steve, thanks very much this looks like it will help
me out a huge amount. I haven't figured out how to apply
the custom animation to all slides but should be able to
no bother. Just have to find £40.00 now for the software.

Before waving the magic plastic card, I'd try the demo to make certain it works
well for you.

Merge starts with a template slide or slides that it duplicates as needed. I
haven't had time to test this myself but in theory, if you apply the animation
you want to the merge "placeholder" it should be replicated on each slide
automatically.

In other words, if you apply it to the template, you shouldn't have to do
anything more.
