How do I get WinXP to configure/format a new SATA drive

I have a Dell 8300 series desktop that has a 40GB ATA
drive in it. I just bought a Maxtor 160GB Serial ATA
drive. I have installed the drivers, configured my BIOS
to see the drive, and in Device Manager from the System-
Properties icon, it does see the drive and says it is
working correctly.

However, Windows Explorer doesn't show it. What do I need
to do in order to be able to format the new SATA drive
and begin using it?

Thanks,
Tom

Try Start/Run/diskmgmt.msc

When disk management opens, use the wizard that should pop
up when a new disc is recognized. You'll need to log on
as an administrator to do this. If you have any
questions, the help topics should be able to walk you
through it.
