How do I get two wav files to play sound at the same time?

I have inserted various music files to play as a background to my slides and
converted them so that they are playing correctly and are not too big. I
then want to have animations with sounds playing concurrently, but the music
stops as soon as the new sound starts. Any assistance please?

PPT can't play two sound files at the same time. To do what you want to do
you would need a sound editing program that can handle two tracks of audio.
Put in one track and then lay the other audio file in the other track. Save
the new "double" track audio file and insert that into PPT file.

PPT can play animation sounds along with background sounds. It may be that
your sound card can't play two WAV files simultaneously, though.

Is your background music MP3s or WAVs?

Because of the size of the completed presentation I had to find a way to
install MP3 music files on - I used Cdex to do this. So ... the music are
converted MP3 files and the animations (sound of sweeping, sound of a truck
back-firing) are wav files

You may find that you'll be able to play concurrent linked mp3 files. You'll
have to package the mp3 with the presentation though in one folder

So the MP3s have been converted to RIFF WAVs using Cdex so they could be
embedded, is that what you're saying?

If so, you want to try inserting the regular MP3s instead.

Melody,

If your hardware is set up for it there is no reason you can not play
multiple sound files at the same time. Look to see who made your sound card
and check their web site for a "WDM" driver for the sound system. Second,
make certain you have the latest version of DirectX installed on your PC.

Are you saying none of the sound files play? If so you might want to look
at PFCExpress for emailing a presentation. (It's completely free.)

No, let me explain properly. I have a presentation spanning 6 slides.
Through this I have inserted 3 separate sound tracks (MP3 converted to WAV by
CDex), but only one music track plays through the two slides on which I have
added three different sounds/animated clips, a moving broom with sweeping
sounds, a backfire, and a car doing a burn-out. The music track stops as
soon as the first animation starts. I tried removing just the sound portion
of the animated clip, but it still seems to over-ride the music. My whole
presentation would lose impact without the additional animations/sounds and I
really need help!

Ok, you have me completely confused. <g> What has any of this to do with
email? Anyhow, back to the original question I asked, do you have a WDM
sound driver for your sound card installed?

I have checked and my Driver is a Realtek Semiconductor Corp and the driver
file saved in Windows System 32 is wdmaud.driv - is this it?
With regards the email - I market my company's services directly to property
managers in real estate, therefore I have set up a PP show to announce our
new services etc (I have done this before without adding music). Initially
the PPS went through without the music; once I sorted this out with Cdex, I
have found that the music stops as soon as the first animation starts. I
have tested to see whether it is just the animation that is causing the
problems by removing it, but the music then stops when the backfiring sound
starts.

What did you try? There are a few suggestions there.

Not sure if this is your problem, but I have found that I can get
multiple sounds to play concurrently only when they are not embedded
in the presentation. E.g., if one sound is embedded and the other is
in an external file, both sounds play. If I embed them both, only one
plays.

I am going to try to use another program to mix both audio files into
one wav file.
