how do I get the speech icons to appear?

It seems that the speech application is functioning. However, the speech tool
bar (with the options for dictation, voice command, etc.) does not appear? I
can't seem to find anything to help me get it back.

G'Day ST Louis,

1. Point at the Taskbar, Right-Click and select Toolbars>Language bar.
2. Point at the Language bar (RH end of Taskbar), Right-Click and
choose 'Restore the Language bar'.

Pat:

Thanks million for your response. I must have done something wrong - I
followed your instructions but did not see "restore the language bar." what I
did see was: address, media playerr, links, MSN Desk Searchbar, Desktop, and
Quick Launch. Any suggestions.

G'Day (again) St Louis,
I now assume that by this you mean Text to Speech (rather than
Speech to Text)?

The Language tools may not be installed - use your Office CD to check.

For Office 2003:
Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs
Microsoft Office 2003 - CHANGE
'Add or Remove Features...' Check/Next
'Advanced Customization...' Check the box/Next
' Office Shared Features' Expand
'Alternative User Input' Expand
Make sure 'Speech' and 'Handwriting' are both installed.
'Microsoft Handwriting Component' (further down) should
also
be installed.

For Office Xp, it is very similar but (from memory) you see
'Features to install' rather than 'Advanced Customization...'

G'Day Bob,
My friend, you are a "fount of wisdom ."
that's nice (and a bit different from my kids' opinion) - thank you.

It's a small world - a lady who, with her husband, runs a block of
holiday apartments in Byron Bay (AU), where we often stay, also
comes from St Louis, Missouri .
Thank you very much ...
You are truly welcome!
