How do I get the "SEND" button to "send" instead of outbox only?

When sending an email, I press the "SEND" button. It only sends it to the
"outbox". Outlook should automatically process the outbox and send it on (if
there is an active network connection). It does not. It simply stays in
the outbox. I then have to perform a manual "SEND/RECEIVE" in order to send
it. How do I get outlook to automatically process the outbox when I press
SEND?

Go to Tools | Options | Mail Setup and make sure "Send immediately when
connected" is checked.

Ok Jocelyn,
I have sortof the same problem except hitting the send/receive button does
nothing for me, the "send immediately when connected" is marked and my mail
still just sits in my out box. also I can not delete it , move it, or open
it..
What do I do??

What version of Outlook? What type of e-mail account are you using --
POP3/SMTP, IMAP, something else? Did it ever work? Are you on a dialup
connection or connected to a LAN?
