I seem to be missing the run button from my Start menu.
Someone played around with my PC and deleted it!
There are other icons missing as well. : (

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You might want to check the following:
Right click on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen and
select Properties from the menu.
Click on the Start Menu tab.
On Start Menu, click on the Customize button.
In Customize Start Menu, click on the Advance tab.
In the Start menu items box, make sure there's a check mark
next to "Run command".

Where exactly are you missing icons? Are you sure you're logged
on with your account? This sounds like the type of behaior
you'd see when you first create a new account.

the problem was that some idi*t had messed around with my pc!

Ah! The old ID10T error. Glad to hear you've got it fixed.

ALL that info in fine and well unless you have tried it 100x already and
there is no "RUN" with a box to be checked off.

I had no idea any one else had this happen to them. So, here I thought
after all this long searching and looking, was going to be the answer. WRONG
AGAIN!

If your computer is a member of a domain then access to Run may
have been disabled by your System Adminstrator through a Group
Policy.

If this is a standalone computer, check the Local Security
Policy (Start -> Run -> secpol.msc) for this setting:

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and
Taskbar\Remove Run from Start Menu

If it's set to Enabled, change it to "Not Configured".

You should also check this registry key:

Go to Start -> Run and enter regedit.exe in the Open box. Click
OK.
Navigate to this location:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Look for a value in the right hand pane named NoRun with a
Value data of 1. Either delete the value or change it to 0.

Good luck

If Nepatsfan's suggestions dont do the trick, then try this;
In regedit, look for
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Start_ShowRun=1
Where 1 = show

Then check :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartMenu\StartPanel\ShowRun
for these values
Type="checkbox"
Text="@shell32.dll,-30483"
HKeyRoot=dword:80000001
RegPath="Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Advanced"
ValueName="Start_ShowRun"
CheckedValue=dword:00000001
UncheckedValue=dword:00000000
DefaultValue=dword:00000001

and these subfolders should exist
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartMenu\StartPanel\ShowRun\Policy
the default key should say (value not set) or be blank

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartMenu\StartPanel\ShowRun\Policy\NoRun

the default key should say (value not set) or be blank

i need to know how do i get my run buttons back please i need to know it is
very important for me

try right-clicking the taskbar, select Properties...., select the Start Menu
tab.

Now it depends on whether you use XP start menu or Classic.

XP - press Customize button, select Advanced tab, scroll way down and put a
checkmark in the Run command selection.

Classic - press Customize button, and put a checkmark in the Run command
selection

that help?
