I want to get rid of the "user accounts" on my computer because it requires
me to log on every time I start windows, I just want to start up windows
normally

Can anyone tell me how to do this. I enabled it when I reinstalled XP to
try it out and now I want to get rid of it.

Thank You

Kevin

Thanks for the help, but will it also remove the windows security program
that is automatically added when a user account is set up?

Because now when I press <ctrl> <alt> <del> instead of the task manager, I
get the "windows security" screen which gives me the options of: lock,
logoff, shutdown, change password, task manager, or cancel.

I want it to be the way it was where it would go to task manager when I
press ctrl alt del, not this pain in the ass stupid windows security screen.

Also, when I shut down, it brings up a dialog saying "logging off", no
problem, but not like it was and therefore kind of annoying.

Will the automatic logon get rid of that and make it like it was?

Thank You

Kevin

user accounts are now part of windows xp. as mentioned by bruce, "you can't
get rid of user accounts but you can log into one automatically" therefore,
everything else follows, as if you did enter your user name and password.

why don't you try using windows xp for a month or so first? if after a
month you find yourself having difficulty going through the learning curve
still, then maybe you can switch back to the windows version that you got
used to.
