How do I get pasted text to format like surrounding text in PPT?

Whenever I paste text from another program into a Powerpoint slide, it keeps
the formatting from the other document instead of adopting the formatting of
the surrounding text in the slide. How do I stop it from doing that? For
example, if I copy a sentence from an email that's in purple text, when I
paste it into a slide with blue text, it stays purple instead of changing to
blue.

Do you get the little Paste Options button that says "keep text only" and
"keep source formatting," "use design template formatting"?

where are these buttons?

No, I don't. I'm using Powerpoint 2004 for Mac, if that makes a difference.

We're mostly PC users here. Try asking over on the Mac side:

They show up near the pasted text immediately after you paste. They
disappear once you do something else. They may not occur on the Mac, though,
I don't know.
