I have two mail boxes on my computer. One is my personal (which Outlook is
defaulting) the other my shared mailbox which I would prefer to have as my
default mailbox. How do I change my default to the shared mailbox?

You don't.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head-scratching, James asked this group:

Does this reply mean basically it is impossible to make the shared calendar
your default calendar? Or am I just expecting too much from MVPs in Outlook?

"You don't" You become a MVP with those kinds of replies?

Answer to what? Adding more information as you restate the question gives you a better chance of attracting the attention to someone who has an answer, even if that answer is no.

It appears there is presently no method of making the default calendar a
shared calendar. I have been searching for a way, even trying to re-invent
the wheel with this Outlook 2003, but it is just not a feature they have come
up with yet.

Maybe Microsoft will come up with the feature in the next Office planned for
the end of this year, beginning of next year or whenever they get it all
wrapped up and ready to sell again.

But to answer it easily, as Sue said, NO, presently it is impossible to
share the calendar.

You can't make a shared calendar (i.e., a calendar in Public Folders) your
default calendar. You also cannot make a calendar belonging to someone else
but that you have permission to view your default calendar. Your default
calendar is always in your own mailbox.
