how do I get online w/o using my phone line?

I have a belkin wireless network adapter and I was told
thats all I needed to connect to the internet
wirelessly. However, I have no idea what I'm doing. it's
a newer Sony Vaio with windowsxp I would love a little
remote assistance thanx

A wireless network adapter is not use unless you have a wireless ethernet
connection point within range, otherwise you've got nothing to connect to.
You'll have to investigate yourself if there's one nearby, but it's very
unlikely...

Wireless network adapters are usually meant for use in a local area network
(LAN) in order to connect each of your computers in your LAN to the internet
either via a hub, router, or directly to the modem if you only have one PC.
The modem can be a telephone modem or a cable modem (in which case a
telephone connection is not needed).

Assuming you only have one computer, your wireless network adapter can
transmit/receive to/from a modem that has wireless capability. That modem is
the device that accesses the outside world (the internet). I've never used a
wireless modem, so I can't help you there. Is your computer a laptop? If so,
there are other devices you might consider.
