How do I get my mailbox etc back?

I mistakenly deleted Microsoft Exchange Server from my list of email accounts
(don't ask). I work permanently offline so have no need for synchronisation
any more. All my folders, calendar and contacts have disappeared. I reckon
they're still in the ost file but I don't know how to reconnect to this. I
have long since lost the Microsoft Exchange Server settings so can't simply
recreate the entry as was. Even if I do, I don't know if it would make any
difference. Help !!!!

Hi - if you were connecting to Exchange at one point and used to sync to an
OST file, that's where your data is. And since the OST file is just a mirror
of your Exchange mailbox, you can't open it without the Exchange service
configured in that profile - and since you can't connect to the Exchange
server again, you have effectively 'orphaned' the file - you will probably
need recovery tools like those at www.exchangerecovery.com - or google for
OST2PST.

That said - before you do anything, if you're on an OS with system restore
(ME, XP) try reverting to a previous config and see whether you can get the
old mail profile back as it was. You can then export the data to a PST file
and then can open it in a mail profile without Exchange in the picture.

You'll have to find a tool that will convert the OST to a PST, if the OST
still exists.
Here's one: http://www.officerecovery.com/exchange/product_information.htm

Many thanks for your help. The recovery utility works (demo version) which
got my contacts and calendar back in full I think. It only gave me the
headers on my mail and if I want the full mail back I'll need to spend $600.
Expensive mistake. I'll look for a freeware version in the meantime. Once
again, thanks for your very prompt response and invaluable suggestion.

You're most welcome. I think this is the sort of mistake one makes only
once, no? ;-)

Hi David

You can also hav a look on another powerful ost recovery software to
convert unusable or corrupted ost file to a pst file which is directly
importable in MS Outlook. And Yes I think s/w cost is almost half to what you
mention earlier. http://www.convert-ost-pst.com/

You know, he's not targeting the person who posted years ago, he's a)
trying to build links to his site so search engines rank him higher and 2)
wants people who search for help to see his post(s).
