We Live For The One We Die For The One

Its and A7v266-e Rev 1.07 with raid and stuff :)

Ive connected another USB card to it, i have one connected to the 4_5
connecter and works great got my modem connected to that.

By the way its the same card i think, got another board becuase the
other was playing up.

But when i connect the card to the 2_3 connecter nothing ? do i have
to turn the power on for that USB on the board ?, i'am not sure i did
that to get the 4_5 going was ages ago, but in the manual i can't see
anything about turning the power for the usb on but might have to can
you help.

I suppose you can have both connected and turned on at the same time
right :)

Thanks if you can help.

There are three USB power headers on the board. They are
USB01_PWR, USB23_PWR, and USB45_PWR.

Each consists of three pins

+5 --- To USB Port --- +5VSB

If you have devices on a pair of USB ports that provide a "wakeup"
function for your computer, then place a jumper in the rightmost position.
(You would do this for a USB keyboard, for example, if you want to
press a key on the keyboard and wake the computer up.)

x x x For USB devices that wake up the computer.

For all other types of USB devices, place the jumper to the left.
Your DSL modem draws a lot of current, and for high current devices
that are not used to wake up the computer, the left position is the
best one to use.

x x x For all other USB device types that don't wake the computer.
^ ^ Also a wise choice for high current USB devices.

If you don't use a jumper, don't expect the ports to work :-)

I think it was MY FAULT, i looked at the cable i have pluged in and
the cable on the other card and i was pluged in the opposite way, so i
changed it arround and it worked.

Wondering what are the default config are the usbs on when you get it
?? should you be able just to plug the cable sin and it works ?

As i have not changed any of the jumpers for the usb extra 4 ports.

Thanks for answering.

The most reasonable default is powering from +5V. Since I don't own
your board, I cannot say for sure how the A7V266-E jumpers ship.
Generally, motherboards ship from the factory in "ready to go"
configuration, so yes, you should be able to plug in the cable
and it just works.

Be careful when connecting the cables to the headers on the motherboard,
because of the power pins. If somehow you manage to reverse the power
pins or shift the connector over by a pin, a USB device connected to
the port could get damaged.
