how do I get mail to auto download to computer?

I have downloaded the new version 7 internet explorer with the new outlook.
WOW now my mail does not download automaticly when I open up outlook. There
is probably something simple that I am overlooking but please someone help me
so I can retrieve my mail. Thank you

I don't quite understand this because the new IE7 and Outlook are completely
indepentdent of each other and Outlook does not "download the IE7".
