I see them in the contact itself but it does not show up in opp history. I
dont even see it as an option to add them manually.

So now I have to look at opp first, then read the name, manually look up the
contact to view email history?

Seems lame.

Timothy,

BCM does not support the direct linking of emails to the Opportunity record
although if I am not mistaken I believe that v1 used to allow for this.

Your post speaks to a larger Opportunity record workflow / navigation issue
that I have found very frustrating. Although the opportunity record does
have a "Link to" field for either a Business Contact or Account record, this
link does NOT create a navigatable hotlink that you can click on to go from
the opportunity to that linked Business Contact or Account. This negates any
possible 2 way navigation between the Opportunity record and a Business
Contact or Account item. In other words, you can navigate TO a linked
Opportunity Record from an Account or Business Contact but you cannot
navigate FROM the Opportunity record back to the linked Account or Business
Contact. The link just creates a displayed name in the Link to field. It's
not a live link!!

Anyway, back to your posted email concern. I guess you could do a kludgey
type of work around that involved cutting and pasting the email to recreate
it as a document. You could then link this document as a File by clicking on
the NEW button down by the Opportunity History Items section at the bottom of
the Opportunity record form.

I hope my comments are of help for you.

An additional comment / suggestion for the Microsoft BCM Design Team:

It would be very sweet if the Opportunity record had a live link back to the
indicated Business Contact or Account. I would suggest though not just 1.
Why not numerous fields in this regard so that users would not have to be
limited to an either or selection option between linking a Business Contact
vs. an Account record. In my real life, day to day business workflow I have
numerous opportunities developing over time that involve far more than just
one person or organization and although one of them may be primary, it would
be great to have an easier means of navigating from my Opportunities to the
necessary parties involved with their maturing into a sale. In a similiar
manner this would really help to free up the 1 Account link only per Business
Contact limitation. Shouldn't a fully relational database be easily able to
handle this type of many-to-many relationships? Many alternative Contact /
Sales management applications have this ability available and it makes the
daily workflow of the business user so very much easier.

Please take this into serious consideration for future updates.
