How do I get contacts birthday to show in the calendar on my Pock

I have a HP Ipq PDA and have populated the contacts with friends info, on
some of them their birthdays are coming through to the Calendar, but on
others they are not. I have looked through all the options and can't work
out how to get this to happen for all of them.

When I add a Contact in Outlook and specify the contact's birthday, Outlook
automatically adds the birthday to the Calendar. Then, when I sync with my
iPAQ, the birthday is transferred.
