I have outlook installed and working properly. When i try to access it
through another program to send emails, that program does not recognize that
outlook is installed. In fact it even gives a msg saying that outlook is not
installed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try starting Outlook with the /CheckClient command line switch.
