I put an AVI video clip file on a PowerPoint slide on my Macintosh
(Office98), and it works on my Mac, but when I run it on a PC(Office 2000), I
get the message that I need this decompressor.

If powerpoint is complaining "Video not available, cannot find vids:mjpeg decompressor"

and

If the video clip in question has a 3 letter extension of

..avi

try renaming it to

..mpg

How do I get a jpeg motion to play in powerpoint?

I have a presentation that I made sometime ago and it contains a video that I made and worked without any problems on my previous mac, I have purchased a new computer and now after getting the new office suite the presentation gives me a message that I need a motion jpeg openDML decompressor to view the video. Thus when I play the video, I get no picture, just sound. I do not have the original video clip....how can I make the picture portion of the video appear if I cannot rename the file? Can I retrieve the video file from the PP presentation to rename it?

Dear User,

Try to change the avi to mpeg and further proceed.
You can get a converter here :
http://www.winmpg.com/

or search for a converter in www.google.com
