I attempted a mail merge from an access database into word for envelope
mail-out purposes. The formatting and spacing i.e. to few spaces between
words, and fourth line of envelope is on the third line of address along with
the third line info. How can I fix this? Also, when I returned to access2003,
to open the database, it requested a password-I have never put a password in
this database!. To make matters worse-back in word, when I pulled it up
again, the text is converted to some kind of unreadable text. Can someone
help me!

It sounds as if you tried to open the mdb file itself using Word.
This is a known method of causing irreversible corruption of an mdb file.
Your best hope is to find another copy of your mdb file, and work from that.
(Of course, you'll make yet another copy before proceeding.)
I'd also recommend that you consider using the Labels Report wizard to
create a report right in Access which will produce your envelopes without
ever having to resort to a mail merge.
