how do i format my hard drive?

i get a message whenever i try to do a format c telling me to exit all windows programs, but none are running. what do i do?

If you are using Windows XP ( I don't know about Windows 2000 ) you set your
BIOS to boot from CD, stick the XP install disk in and reboot. You can
format your drive from there.

if you are useing xp just reboot from xp dixk and follow instructions on screen
