is the dumbest thing since windows 95 can anyone help m
hey man
your not dumb, microsoft makes everything mysterious thinking that it will take other companies longer to reverse engineer there software. make a boot disk. I can't remeber if there is a specific place in xp to make one, but the help section should steer you right. I think I found a place on the web called Dr. DOS. It makes a bootdisk free of charge. Anyway, after you make the floppy boot disk, put it in the floppy drive, usually a:, and press boot menu when you are first booting up. On my computer, I press 8 before the actual windows boot starts, and after a few seconds, it boots to an a:\ prompt. If you make sure that you have the system files on the a disk, you merely have to give the command format c
If you made the disc right, and everything else is working on your computer, you will get a message with a warning that all information on drive c: will be lost and then the question "would you like to proceed" or something like that. Make sure that you have access to your cdrom drive, because xp will not install from the a drive. There is, however, an exception: If you are going to have to install from the floppy drive, there is a section in help that allows you to make four or five floppies which will install your windows xp. Just make sure that you don't erase all the info on c: before you are sure that you can get the cdrom to work or you have made the floppies that I mentioned
Hope this helps
