How do I format a CDR?

Pioneer DVR-A06U DVD/CD writer works. Does not recognize
CD. I believe I need to format it. I can't find out how
in Help anywhere. Thank-you.

If you are trying to record on a new blank CD-R
and the drive won't recognize it...I would say try
a different disk or maybe a different brand.

There is a newsgroup on Usenet that is a good
source of info about CD recording...

You should not have to format a write only CD, just write to it with
the XP driver built in or a third party program. If that does not work
you either have a bad CD disk or a bad CD Writer, or the application
program is not compatible with your Windows OS. You only have to
format a R/W CD if you buy one that is not formatted, takes about 20
minutes on my computer.

You don't need to format either R or RW's CD to use.
