I have experienced nothing but frustration with this excel in office 2007. I
am supposed to be using it for my statistics class but it has been veritabley
USELESS.

HELP!!!!

Mu is 2500 std deviation is 300 and the sample size is 42.

The mean of the sample is almost always extremely close to the mean of the
population as a whole. The standard deviation of the sample is
(statistically) smaller than the standard deviation of the population. It is
expressed as the standard deviation of the population divided by the squart
root of the sample size.

In Excel if the S.D. of the population is 300 nd our sample is 42 we should
see the sample s.d. be

=300/42^(0.5)
or
46.29100499
