How do I find the address (IP#?) for my router?

I need the address for my Link Sys WRT54G8 router so I can change some
settings. I can't remember the number and I don't know how to find
it.
Can anyone help me?
Is the number call the IP number or is there a different name for it?

Thanks
Bonnie

Bring up the CMD and type netcfg /all
The first address you see is your router address. Default for that router
should be 192.168.1.1

Have you changed the default address or are you using the one that
is set by the factory. See other posts for the factory address.

If you have put your own in and have forgotten it, you will have to
reset your router to factory settings. It's in the manual.
In the least, he could try some obvious choices.

I don't have netcfg available on my XP SP3 system. However, running
ipconfig instead will yield similar results.
The 'Default Gateway' will show the IP address of the router.

I assume you mean WRT54GL, not -G8.

start>run>type cmd Press enter

type ipconfig /all Press enter

The IP address of the default gateway is the one you are looking for. It
is likely 192.168.1.1 by default.

Now type http://192.168.1.1 or another IP you may have found above into
the address bar of your browser and press Enter.

When prompted for the username and password simply enter "admin"
(without the quotes) as the pw, leaving the username field blank.

If this fails you'll be doing a hard reset of the router.

Which they probably don't know how to do either. How to hard reset the
router: push straightened paper clip into little hole on the back of the
router.
