please help!! i have to restore my system and before i do that i want to
export my address book in case i lose it, not my contacts and i can't do
it!!!! please help!

What version of Outlook are you using? Normally your address book is
dynamically generated from your Contacts folder

i'm using outlook 3 and i DID have outlook express a couple of years ago. i
saved THAT address book to a WAB file and managed to import it into my
M.outlook. but now i have more addresses and they are stored in my address
book and NOT CONTACTS.

Outlook 3? There's no version called Outlook 3. There's not even an Outlook
Express 3. Do you mean Outlook 2003?

i need to ask again now, i've managed, i think, to add my address book to my
contacts. now, before i restore, i've exported my contacts list as a pst
file. will i be able reinstate this file to my addresses later once i've
sorted my laptop?

I agree with Brian about not using .pst files. The best thing is a
"delimited" (usually comma-seperated) text file, because EVERY program
understands it. That way, you can also share between different programs,
especially if you decide to switch email clients or need to share your
contacts with another person who uses a different email client.

That's not what Brian said at all. He said not to EXPORT to a PST file.
PST files are still the preferred format for transferring data from one
installation of Outlook to another.
Use a different file format only if you want to lose a lot of data.
