How do I enable admin for command window?

I need to run chkdsk on a 500GB disk (NTFS) since it hangs when doing it on
startup. I am trying to do it in a command window as a user logged in as
administrator (on the local machine) in Vista Ultimate (64 bit), but get the
error "unable to run chkdsk without elevated privileges."

How do I run a command window as an admin (I thought I was already logged
into an administrator user account)?

Thank you,

In the Start search box type cmd then right click on cmd.exe at the top of
the list and pick Run as administrator. Alternatively find the Command
prompt icon in the Start menu and right click on it.

Thank you Kerry!
