When I try to edit some pages on my site, the mouse cursor turns into a black
"Do Not Enter" symbol (a circle with a slash though it) and I'm unable to
edit any part of the page or text. Does anyone know why this happens. I
previously had FP 2002 and recently upgraded to FP 2003. The problem only
occur with FP 2003.

That indicates that the content in that area is from an include page or
other "shared" content.

Thank you. How do I edit this page now in FP 2003. I can edit it in FP 2002
without any problems.
Mike

You open and edit the page that contains the shared or included content.

Thank you for the info. I found that if edited some of the code a pop-up
window opened and said "Detach from the Dynamic Template" I clicked yes and
this allowed me to alter as needed. I know this takes it off the Dynamic
Template for updates but this is fine.

Thanks,
Mike

You should not have done that
- defeats the purpose of the DWT
Edit the DWT and reapply it to your pages
- if you want a part of the template changeable all pages make it and editable region

It means you're using dynamic web templates and that "prohibited" symbol
simply means that area of the page is in a "non-editable" region of the page
using that template.

The other replies in this thread refer to "Shared Borders" and "Includes"
which have nothing to do with the issue being asked about - they do not show
the "prohibit" symbol - you can edit shared borders in design-time within
the page using the border. It is the Dynamic Web Templates which you can
set editible regions and non-editable regions on the template, then apply it
to a page, and so your non-editable content remains intact (elements such as
header, menu, footer etc).
