How do I download a DVD onto my computer?

Very simple question....
here's the background:
I have a DVD of my family that was made by a friend of ours. I want to store
the DVD forever on my hard drive, which is huge...

I'd like to do this so that I can watch it whenever I want, and also because
so many folks are always wanting copies of it and I don't always have the
original DVD on hand to make a copy (but I always have my computer with me).

So how do I download a DVD onto my hard drive?

I always suggest getting AVS Video Converter since it has such a wide number
of uses. It can convert many video formats, and you can import the vob
files from a dvd and save in wmv, mpeg, avi, real, quicktime or whatever.
Download the trial version and try it out before you buy ...its $29.95....a
great utility that I use all the time. Find it at www.avsmedia.com
There are other ways to rip dvd, but this is a great program. I think the
trial version might put a mark on the movie so you may have to buy it....but
at least give it a trial to see if you get the dvd downloaded to your
computer. Its pretty intuitive and easy to learn....just click on all the
options to see what they are for. Good luck.
