PowerPoint isn't available for free download from the Microsoft site. In
fact, it's not available free at all -- you must purchase it.
You can purchase at a wide variety of software vendors online. I suspect the
legit ones will ship installation CDs to you, though.
If you purchase at a "real" store (bricks and mortar), you may have to
purchase the entire Office suite, as I think most stores don't carry the
individual applications, only one or two Office Suites (a collection of
applications, usually including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and
sometimes others such as Access, Publisher, etc.)
You might look into openoffice.org -- it has a presentations program called
Impress. I believe it may even let you save your file as a PPT file, which
you could then check in the PPT Viewer to see how it will look in PPT.
