How do I disable NAV?

Now that I've discovered that NAV is the reason why my Win2000 PC runs
so poorly, how can I disbale it so that it only works when I manually
instruct it to and not every time I start or stop a program?

I tried going to control panel->Administrative Tools->Services and
disabling all 6 items that start with Symantec, but ccApp still starts.

Thanks.

Instead of trying to disable startup items, you should open NAV, click
on Options, then uncheck "Start AutoProtect when windows starts". You
can look at the other options you may or may not want active.

If overhead is a real issue on your PC, then consider something else
instead of NAV, such as ZoneAlarm antivirus, or NOD32, or Trend
Pc-cillin which I have much less overhead.

I agree 100% try the new NOD32 ..you can download the 30 day trial version
and you will see a big difference in speed..also it may find viruses that
norton didn't..RH710

I had forgotten to include that, turning off every possible option that
looked like it might run SOMETHING automatoically was the first thing I
had tried. Can anybody suggest anything else?

Thanks.
