Sometimes HTML web pages contain wmv movies or pdf files (or other stuff). When I click on such a link or
enter it in the URL entry field a built-in plug-in to interpret this file is started and the content is shown
INSIDE IE. How do I disable this internal interpretation and force IE to popup the file dialog window in order to
save the content on the hard disc instead?

Hi,

Go to Windows Explorer. Tools, Folder Options, File Types. For each of the
extensions you want to modify: browse to it, click on it, click on Advanced,
make sure you check [x] Confirm open after download.

Kind regards

With PDF (and most others) you can use the programs options to disable
support for showing them in your browser. However it's just as easy to right
click a link and save target as.
