how do I disable antivirus?

Hmm .. I keep trying to "Disable antivirus software" so my video capture and such is not impacted. But my "Norton Antivirus 2002" on my computer, (which came with Windows XP) says "auto-protect is disabled".

In fact, I actually cannot even "enable" it ... that's another post I'll need to leave I guess.

But how do I disable my antivirus software? That scanning dialogue box does come up and crunch away every now and then.

Thanks much!!

Depends on the program of course. But the generic answer is....right click
on the program icon in the task bar, and choose the mostly likely thing that
pops up on the list when you do. Like "Disable Norton" for example.

nonton av might have come with your puter but it is NOT part of win xp .
also if it is ver 2002 it was probably the free 6 month trial that will no
longer update and probably hasn't been updated in a long time , making it
pretty much worthless anyway .

you need to either renew your subscription to norton av or uninstall it and
install another . one good free one is AVG .
