Browsing has recently become a nightmare due to an
unwanted browser called "marsfind". How do I rid my
computer of this problem?

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Reply to Newsgroup. I won't answer email

Followed all of your instructions and then some :(( -- no luck

When I enter a non-existent URL in address field, IE6 goes to marsfind
to search for it. What I want is a good old "404 - page not found"
message.
I think there is an option somewhere in IE to search if a page is not
found and you can specify the search engine that you want to use. I do
not remember where these options are set.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Gene,
According to this discussion
http://oldlook.experts-exchange.com/Applications/Viruses/Q_20773420.html
X-Cleaner Free from http://www.webattack.com/get/xcleaner.html will remove
this.

Just to not overlook the obvious, look at Control Panel> Add/remove
programs. Anything suspicious there?

Regards
Don
