how do I delete multiple contact folders?

I just upgraded to Office 2003, and when I opened Outlook, I had a contact
folder that contained addresses that have been invalid for a year or
so.....I'm not even sure where the computer found them to upload.

To make this matter even stranger, this extraneous folder is duplicated
approximately 500 times!

Is there any way to delete multiple Contact folders ("shift"? "CTRL"?) or am
I going to have to do this one folder at a time?

Inexplicable.
I'd love to know the steps used to create this mess.

Well, shortly after I posted, I found out that these contacts were
"archived". The "archived items" all had subfolders also called "archived
items" that seemed to go on forever. I finally gave up trying to get to the
final subfolder, and deleted everything in the archive with a click of one
button on the original archive file, and BINGO. All gone! ....but the true
kicker?

Before the deletion, when I clicked on "unread mail", it pulled up 7068
unread emails....comprised of 3 email messages from the same time-period,
repeated ad nauseum. I'm glad I didn't sit there and try to delete the
contact folders one-by-one....If the unread mail was any guide, I would have
had to delete 2356 folders.

Sheesh!

Still unclear how your archive folder became your Outlook Data File.
Probably worth reading how to migrate Outlook data for the next time:
