Show the Folder list and explain what you mean by "linked to mail folders"
If I've guessed right, these instructions will sort out your mess:
If they are sub-folders (under a mail folder) of mail folders, right click
the Calendar and delete it. This will not effect the mail folder.
If the mail folders you want are under the Calendars (ie the mail folders
are sub-folders of the Calendars you want to delete) then you'll need to
first move the mail folders. You can do this by dragging them to the
Inbox - that will put them back in the folder list in alphabetical order.
To stop this happening again - when you make a new folder 1) select the
location you want to put it (eg Inbox) and then 2) on the screen where you
make a new folder, set it to make the Folder contains items of type .... to
the required folder type.
