I have a number of addional calendars which I do not know how I created. As
they are linked to mail folders, simply deleting them deletes the whole
folder. I only want to dump the calandar. Any suggestions welcomed.

Hi,

Are you asking for a quick way to delete all appointments in a calendar? If so, open Outlook and click on the folder you want to delete appointments from.

Next change the view by clicking on View > Arrange By > Current View > Select "By Category." This will place you in a table view where you can click on the first item, hold the Shift key
down and click on the last item to highlight everything, then press the delete key.

Show the Folder list and explain what you mean by "linked to mail folders"
If I've guessed right, these instructions will sort out your mess:

If they are sub-folders (under a mail folder) of mail folders, right click
the Calendar and delete it. This will not effect the mail folder.

If the mail folders you want are under the Calendars (ie the mail folders
are sub-folders of the Calendars you want to delete) then you'll need to
first move the mail folders. You can do this by dragging them to the
Inbox - that will put them back in the folder list in alphabetical order.

To stop this happening again - when you make a new folder 1) select the
location you want to put it (eg Inbox) and then 2) on the screen where you
make a new folder, set it to make the Folder contains items of type .... to
the required folder type.

Ok - I have a number of folders whose properties are only mail & post items,
yet they show under My Calendars and ticking them opens a calendar. If I
delete the calendar I delete the mail folder too. The mail folders are all
under Sent Items or a top level folder I've created. Another guess please
Judy!
