How do I create msg rule 'do not download from server' in Outlook?

I have just upgraded from Outlook Express to Outlook 2002. An essential
message rule which I had set up in Express was to not download messages from
the server if the 'To' or 'Cc' line contained a particular email address or
addresses. I cannot find a way of doing this in Outlook. If this can't be
done then I can't use Outlook. Why take away useful features?
 
Because Outlook's rules wizard operates post-download since it's melded with
the transport like it is with OE. Do you have more than one person's email
in the same mailbox?
 
Well I see that I'm not the first person to trip up on this. Questions
"selective download of email off server" and "do not download from server
rule in Outlook" ask the same thing. The answer appears to be "you can't",
so I'll have to junk Outlook and revert to Outlook Express. How silly!
This is a serious omission for those people who use message rules to download
messages addressed to different people to different computers.

Yes. We have 2 PCs, currently both running OE, my message rules are set up
so as to leave any messages on the server which are 'To' or 'Cc' my wife's
email address(es), her message rules are set up to only download messages
which are 'To' or 'Cc' her email address(es). It's not 100% ideal but it
works. But only with OE it seems....

Forwarding email back to the other email address(es) isn't acceptable, since
all her email will appear to have come from me.

No one "took away" any useful feature, since Outlook and Outlook Express are
completely separate products and Outlook has never been able to do what you
describe.

There are other ways to peel that grape, like having separate server
mailboxes for each person.
