How do I create a one-way link from data source to destination

I would like to link data from the source to the destination one way only, so
that data entered into the source is transferred to the destination table,
however data I put into the destination table is not transferred back to the
data source. Is this possible?

if you're talking about linked tables in Access, there is no "destination"
table. the table only exists in the source database. when you open a linked
table in another database, you're not opening a "copy" of the source table
object - you're simply activating a link which opens the table from within
the source database, and displays it in the open database. so it doesn't
matter whether you enter data in that table via the link in another
database, or directly within the source database - it's one table, and it
stores the data once, in one place.

Tina,
Can I make the linked data unchangeable? I don't want users changing the
linked data.

probably the most reliable way to secure table data is by setting up the
built-in Access security. if you google the newsgroups for "security" or
perhaps "user security", something along those lines, you should get back
tons of threads to read over - including ones with excellent links to
webpages that address Access security. off the top of my head, i can tell
you that anything posted by MVP Joan Wild is a keeper - and there are other
skilled developers who are experienced in applying Access security, too,
here in these newsgroups.
