I recently spent a lot of money and time to get mny
computer just how I want it. I would like to create a
backup of my programs and settings. I tried to follow
the directions given on the microsoft website, but it
didn't work. I have an older computer and have installed
Windows XP Home Edition and Microsoft Works Suite 2003. I
have the discs but would like to have a backup on floppy
disk. Anyone out there with easy to follow directions?!
I hope so, Thanks a bunch!! Cindy

Hi Cindy,

In what way did the backup directions "not work"? If you're running Windows
XP Home, you have to install the Backup utility manually, and then you can
make a backup of whatever files you want. The instructions for installing
Backup are at:

While this is true on the surface Jeanie it isn't that simple. To begin with if the backup were to be larger than say 620MB (and the XP OS is) then you will need to have the ability to span multiple disks. Something that can't be done with any XP. If you read her post more closely she wants to backup the entire OS including programs and modifications that she has done. The only option is a third party software like Drive Image. {:~)
