How do I copy & paste one distribution list to another?

I have a distribution list that is getting too big (too many emails). I
like to break it into 5 pieces by alphabetic groups, say A-D, etc. What is
the best way to do it?

I figure that if I can find a way to copy the original distribution list to
5 other distributions lists, I can easier go back to each one to delete
unrelated entries and I'll end up having 5 distribution lists. But my
problem is: I do not know how to copy & paste one distribution list to
another. Thanks for your help!

You can't.
You'd need to save the DL with another name or in another location and work
with that.

What do you mean by "You'd need to save the DL with another name or in
another location and work with that"?

What part don't you understand? You asked how to make a copy of the DL.
The only way you can make a copy of a DL in Outlook is to move it to another
folder.

I'm sorry, Russ... I'm not knowledgable. I don't know what it means to move
the DL to the folder. Thank you for taking the time to help. I'll
appreciate if you kindly be more specific. Thank you very much.

Look at the File menu in an open DL. You will see that you cannot copy it,
nor can you create a copy of it by saving it with a different name.
You can, however, copy it to another folder. That will create a copy, which
is what you were trying to do. If you want to move it back to its original
folder, just rename it before you do.

Right-click the DL, drag it a little, release the mouse, and choose Copy.
Outlook will gladly make another DL of exactly the same name. Do this
threee more times and you'll have five indentical, identically named DLs.
Open each DL in turn, specifying a new name and removing those entries you
want to trim. Close and save. When you're done, you'll have the five DLs
you want.

Not true, Russ. You can have multiple DLs with the same name in the same
folder.

Right-click the DL, drag it a short distance, release the mouse button, and
a context menu containing "Copy" and "Cancel" will appear. Choosing Copy
will produce a second DL of exactly the same name. You can now open that
DL, change its name, trim some of the members, and save it.

You mean that drag and drop trick? That's news to me. Doesn't sound like a
very good idea, either. DL's barely work when created properly. I suspect
that's why their file menu provides no such option.
