How do I copy only selected pages of a document into a new documen

I want to re-use only a portion of an existing 260 page Word document in a
new document. How do I save or transfer only those pages that I want?
 
Open source document. Select desired content. Press Ctrl+C. Open target
document. Press Ctrl+V. Repeat until all desired content is in target
document.

Alternatively, open source document. Save under new filename. Select
unwanted content. Press Delete. Repeat until all unwanted content has been
removed.

I know of no easier way of achieving your stated goal. Unlike PowerPoint,
FrontPage or PDF files, content in Word documents is essentially contiguous.
Consequently, there is no method to specify the "pages" you wish to retain
apart from direct, visual identification.
