I hate the new comcast email system called SmartZone so I decided to start
using Microsoft Outlook 2007. It was amazinly easy to set up and seems to be
working fine. Does anyone know an easy way I can copy over my personal
folders and my address book from the Comcast home to my Outlook account ?

Did you configure the account in Outlook to access your Comcast mailbox via
POP?

Examine the SmartZone address book and you should see a place where you can
export the addresses. Export them in a CSV format and they should be easy
to import into Outlook.

Are you using the web-based SmartZone? If so, you should be able to move
messags from the Comcast folders to the Inbox where Outlook will gladly
download them as new messages. If you wish to replicate the folder
structure, first create folders in Outlook that match the Comcast folder
structure. Then create one more temporary folder in Outlook and move the
contents of Outlook's Inbox to that folder. Then in SmartZone, move the
contents of a folder to SmartZone's Inbox. Perform a send/receive in
Outlook and it should download the messages. Move the Outlok Inbox contents
to the folder you created that matches the folder you just moved in
SmartZone. Do this for all your Comcast folders until you've transferred
everything. Then in Outlook move the contents of the temp folder back to
Inbox and delete the temp folder. You should be all set after that.

Thank you so much, Brian. before I get started on the address book, I guess
I am not sure what POP means. When I configured Outlook 2007, I gave it my
comcast email address and then let everything else happen automatically. I
gave no further information than just choosing to let the progarm configure
itself. Is there a place I can check to see if my account in Outlook can
access your Comcast mailbox via
POP?

Rick

It should be POP. Click Tools>Account Setting and look at what's defined on
the E-mail Accounts tab.
