I was told I need Microsoft Access to use this program. I have it, but I
haven't been able to "figure it out". The help page hasn't been of much use,
or I just flat don't know how to use it. The CD of course is "read only" and
I need to make changes. And, where do I put it? On the Desktop?

You only need Access if there is either an MDB,MDE,ADP,ADE on the disk. What
you need to do is copy these files off the CDROM to your PC and then take
off the Read-Only Attributes of the files.

You will not be able to do much with the MDE or ADE as they are 'locked'
versions of databases.

in MS Word or MS Excel, you could open a file from a CD, then use File |
Save As to copy it to your own PC. but you can't copy an open database in
Access that way.

instead, open your Windows Explorer, find the file on your CD drive, and
copy it to your computer. if you've been given instructions to save it to a
specific drive and/or folder on your computer, recommend you follow those
instructions. otherwise, you can probably save it anywhere you want. just
make sure you make note of where you save it, because you'll have to
navigate to the file in Access in order to open it.

oh yes, and btw, after you save the file from the CD to your PC: right
click on the file, there in Windows Explorer, click Properties, and remove
the checkmark from the Read-only box.
