My web hosting company is now telling me I have to convert my frontpage 2003
website with .asp extensions to .html? how do I do this?

thank you.

Hi FLA_USA

Why are they telling you, that you need to convert.asp files to .html files
if you don't mind my asking? That doesn't make any sense to me. If you are
on a windows box that runs .asp files there really often times isn't an
exact way to convert those to .html files. since much of .asp is server side
code.

Now if you were moving from a Windows box to a Unix box then the current
..asp files might not work.

However if that isn't the case..then why are they telling you that you need
to change?

That is strange. If there's no ASP code then all you do is rename them
otherwise renaming them to htm will cause the code to stop working. If you
want ASP pages I'd look for another host.

ASP pages do not (necessarily) contain html code.....ASP code works on a
server where ASP is enabled (usually Windows servers).....

If you have functionality that uses the ASP (eg database components) then
those pages won't work if you rename them as *.html.

Why is your host instructing you to do this?
