How do I connect my laptop to the power point projector

I've already created my show & have read until my eyes are falling out, but
can't seem to find the step-by-step sequence to actually get hooked up to
run. Even my 'For Dummies' Book doesn't explain this part.

I will be using an IBM 'Think Pad', & I don't know what kind of projector.

Thanks...``

I have a ThinkPad, and for my model it's Fn/F7 to toggle between my laptop
and the projection screen. But if at all possible, experiment with
connecting to the projector you're going to use BEFORE the big day. Make
sure your font is large enough to be seen from the back of the room you'll
be in. Check to be sure that your text color can be seen easily against your
background. Jot down which cable goes where and the order in which you need
to connect everything. If that's absolutely impossible, arrive for your
presentation very early. Many of us could share our horror stories, but the
point is that things can go wrong, especially when you're anxious about
presenting, connecting to the projector, etc. It's far better to set
everything up and then have time to take a break than to be fiddling with
cables in front of your expectant audience. And about that toggle
key--you'll usually need to do it 2 or 3 times. On my laptop, it takes three
taps before the slides can be seen both on my laptop screen and on the
projection screen for the audience. Good luck!

Thank you EXTREMELY!!! You gave me so much info that I've been looking for,
it is really appreciated, I tried very hard on my own to learn & had just
about given up...You're the best!
