I want to learn how to compress documents, especially with pictures for
emailing so they are not so large. Its very hard to send a document that
is large, it jams some peoples computers and takes a long time. Can
you help me?

generally you can put them in a "zip" (compressed) folder. One would need
winzip or a similar utility to un compress the file.

Windows XP has a compression utility built in (although it may have to be
installed from Add/Remove Programs/Windows Options (etc).

Once installed, browse to the file to compress, right click the file, select
"Send to" then "Compressed Folder".

Then in your email, attach that zip folder (containing the original file)
and send it. How much compression you achieve depends on the file type.

It is possible that the images themselves are too large.

I thought that zipping images did not reduce them very much

Perhasp try optimising the images with IrfanView
http://www.irfanview.com

Choose 800*600 or thereabouts and save as 75% (see the dialog box for saving
jpegs in Irfan View)
