How do I characterize a single occurance in recurring calendar?

In Office 2003 I used colors to show a single occurance in a recurring
calendar series as complete. I can't find a way to do that in Office 2007.
It will only allow me to color characterize the entire series.

If you double-click to open an instance does it ask you if you want to open
the series or just the single instance? Choose single instance and then
categorize it from the inspector window.

I don't believe you can categorize a since recurrence of a recurring event.

Hmmm...you're right. Acts like it's going to work, but gives you an error
at the last step.

Guess he can kludge it with a keyword in the subject, location or notes.
